Neuroscience
What can/can't I bring to the event?
You can bring anything you want to O-Week EXCLUDING weapons, alcohol and illegal substances. York University and Calumet promote a dry O’Week which means no intoxication of any kind is permitted throughout this week. It has been a York University tradition and we've had nothing but fun! We promise it will still be a great time.
What is Orientation Week?
Orientation Week (O’Week) is a week-long series of events, activities, and workshops designed to welcome new students to York University and help them transition into university life. It’s a chance to meet other first-years, make friends, and learn about the campus and its resources, all while participating in fun activities!
When is O’Week happening?
O’Week will take place during the last week of August from the 24th - 31st, before the Fall semester begins.
Who can participate in O-Week?
All incoming first-year and transfer students can participate, regardless of program or commuting/residence status. If you're unsure of your affiliated college, you can check it on your student account or ask us!
Students are recommended to attend the O-week from the college that houses their major. However, students are welcome to attend any O-week. You can check your college here. If it says Calumet, then you’re in the right spot!
Is there a dress code?
It is MANDATORY to wear your O-Week provided t-shirt and wristband.
Is there a cost to participate?
Yes, there is a one-time Orientation Week fee that covers your access to all events, workshops, meals, swag, and more. Early Bird Tickets are $120, while Regular Tickets are $160.
Do I have to attend every event?
Nope! While we encourage you to attend as many events as possible to get the full experience, you can choose which events fit your schedule and comfort level.
Can I get a refund on my ticket if I find out that I cannot attend later on?
No. Tickets are non-refundable.
What should I bring to O’Week?
Bring a refillable water bottle, comfortable clothes/shoes, sunscreen for outdoor events, and your student ID if you have it. Please note that you will have to wear the O’Week shirt and wristband to participate in events.
Who are the Orientation Leaders?
Orientation Leaders are upper-year students who are here to guide and support you throughout the week. They’re fun, approachable, and ready to answer any questions you have!
What if I have accessibility needs?
We’re committed to making O’Week inclusive and accessible. If you have any specific needs or concerns, please contact us ahead of time so we can make arrangements. You can reach us at calfrosh@gmail.com.
Is alcohol allowed?
